- To qualify for our College Support discount, parents must have completed 5 hours of volunteer service at the College over the course of a single semester.
- The hours must have been completed during the semester prior to the discount being applied (e.g. the discount will be applied in Semester 2 for hours completed in Semester 1).
- All new families will be entitled to the discount immediately following commencement, for one semester only.
- Parents (the biological mother or father or legal guardian of a student enrolled at Rehoboth) do not need to apply for a Working with Children Check to complete College Support hours. Parents are exempt from obtaining a WWCC if their student is enrolled at the school at which they are volunteering. Their student does not have to be participating in the particular activity in which the parent is volunteering. For other categories of child-related work (such as tutoring services, or sports or clubs) parents generally are exempt if their own student (aged under 18) either participates (or ordinarily participates) in the activity or is involved in some or all of the activities of the relevant organisation.
- However, parents are not exempt in any category of child-related work if they are volunteering at an overnight camp, and parents are not exempt if they have been issued a Negative Notice or Interim Negative Notice and the Notice is current.
- For more information, refer to the WWC Screening Unit’s Factsheet CRW03: The Parent Volunteer Exemption.
