Overview #
The Association acknowledges that some families face difficulty with the payment of tuition fees. Families may be earning a low income or may be faced with hardship for reasons of ill-health, redundancy or other factors which give rise to economic hardship. The Board wish to support these families within approved parameters.
Policy Statements #
Accordingly:
- Families who wish to apply for fee relief must do so on a current fee relief application form.
- The fee relief application form is assessed by the Finance Manager who makes a recommendation to the CEO on the level of fee relief.
- The Finance Manager maintains a confidential record of all families receiving fee relief. The record is to include the amount of fee relief, approval and review dates.
- The Finance Manager will conduct a review of all families receiving fee relief at least annually.
- All families on fee relief must advise the Finance Manager if their circumstances change.
- All families on fee relief on or after 1 Jan 2003 must agree to paying their fees by direct debit and/or Centre- Pay wherever possible.
- To be eligible for fee relief families must satisfy both the Finance Manager and CEO at application (and at any other time on review) that fee relief is warranted.
- Assessment of fee relief must consider:
- The extent any loan repayments or expenses are funding the accumulation of assets.
- The difference between Income and expenditure on essential items.
- The extent expenditure occurs on non-essential items (e.g. buying takeaway, entertainment, etc.).
- Changes of circumstances e.g. (redundancy, death, unemployment).
Fee relief decisions are maintained as confidential records at the Business Office. Families bear a reciprocal responsibility to refrain from discussion fee relief awards with other families. This is discussed with each family whenever meetings to discuss family circumstances are held.
