Overview #

Rehoboth Christian College believes that staff are lifelong learners, and thus we encourage and develop staff in a way that reflects the College’s priorities. Rehoboth aims to support staff to develop continually in both their understanding of Christian education, and in their professional capacity.

We encourage Education Assistants to:

  1. engage in professional reading and study;
  2. participate in professional learning in Christian Education;
  3. participate in courses that reflect the improvement items of the Operational Plan;
  4. participate in Professional Learning (PL) to help develop personal goals within their position at Rehoboth;
  5. engage in further studies with an accredited tertiary provider.

Ongoing Education, Training, and Professional Development #

  1. Rehoboth supports the ongoing professional development of Education Assistants and seeks to ensure it maintains a professional and highly skilled workforce. We aim to facilitate the development of all employees’ skills, particularly in regard to the needs and activities that support teaching from a Christian worldview.
  2. Training and development needs of Education Assistants will be identified:
    1. prior to commencement of employment;
    2. during performance of day to day duties; and
    3. through feedback / appraisal sessions.
  3. Ongoing study options are accessible via the College:
    1. Education Assistants are encouraged to complete their Certificate IV in Education Support.
    2. The College will contribute 50% of course fees up to the value of $750.00 for one person per school per year. This payment will be subject to the successful completion of the course within eighteen months and a continued year of employment at Rehoboth after receiving the qualification.
    3. Staff members are required to reimburse the College in full should they discontinue, fail, or not complete the course within the contractual period of eighteen months.
    4. If a practical placement is required outside of Rehoboth, the College will release the staff member on a Leave Without Pay basis.

At Rehoboth Christian College, we are busy discovering God’s story for us. It is a story about how He has provided a safe, secure environment for Christian families to send their children to be educated; a place where students are taught to think Christianly about the world and their place in it. Rehoboth was also only the second school of its kind in Australia at its opening; a school where Jesus Christ was to be honoured as Lord of all.
