ACE provides a high-quality education from a Reformed Christian perspective. The intention of the trainee teacher scholarship is to support Rehoboth graduates who have demonstrated the desire and potential to serve the Lord by training to become teachers at Rehoboth Christian College.
Applicants must demonstrate their active participation in a protestant Christian church that supports the Association’s doctrinal position as a regular, active member, and display a growing and genuine relationship with our Lord. This will be assessed during the student’s application for a scholarship. The assessment method is in line with that used for assessing teacher applicants.
The support is expected to be mutual. ACE assists student teachers in a variety of ways, one of which is financial. The students have the opportunity to support ACE in its objectives and activities.
Scholarships are normally reserved for current Year 12 Rehoboth students or Rehoboth graduates studying teaching. Exceptions may include a member of the Association who wishes to become a teacher at Rehoboth.
When agreement has been reached with a student teacher about a Scholarship under this scheme, this is articulated in a formal agreement between Rehoboth and the supported student teacher. This will be renewed annually during the period of study and the first 5 years following course completion.
Rehoboth will publicise these scholarship opportunities widely within the Rehoboth community.
Scholarship offers are made on the basis of selection criteria contained within this policy, together with any amendments that may be made by the Board at any time.
Not all support is financial. The following are other forms of support. These may or may not be appropriate for all candidates:
