About Typography #
The arrangement of text and selection of fonts in a communication is referred to as typography. It is a vital part of the Rehoboth brand. Our standard font is used across all documentation produced by the College and provides a consistent visual style to all our communications.
There should be no other instances where typefaces other the standard are necessary. The use of various fonts does not help maintain the unity of the Rehoboth brand and should be avoided.
Fira Sans #
Our standard font family is Fira Sans and should be used in all documents created internally as well as in email (where staff are using the Outlook desktop app – Fira Sans is not supported in webmail).
The standard font for internal communications is Fira Sans Light 11pt. If readability is an issue, Fira Sans Regular 11pt can be used.
Microsoft Word templates provided by the College contain the following preset styles:
- Normal: Fira Sans Light 11pt
- Heading 1: Fira Sans Medium 16pt
- Heading 2: Fira Sans Medium 12pt
- Heading 3: Fira Sans Medium Italic 12pt
Fira Sans Medium should be used to emphasis words or phrases within a portion of text. Do not use other methods such as medium + italic or medium + underline as a way to lend additional emphasis. The use of Fira Sans Medium alone is sufficient to draw attention, and if greater emphasis is needed, the text can be placed in a coloured text block.
Italics should be reserved for the title of external documents referenced in a communication where this is the standard convention for such items. For example, State and Federal Government Acts such as the Associations Incorporation Act 2015 and book titles should be placed in italics.
Logo Typography #
The typography of the accompanied logo should be presented as below.
When presented across two lines as per Version 1 of the logo, the text should appear at 50% of the total height of the shield.
When presented as a single as per Version 2 of the logo, the text should appear at 25% of the total height of the shield.
