Welcome to Music at Rehoboth #

Welcome to Music at Rehoboth

Music tuition plays a vital role in the Christian education we offer. We believe that God has gifted music as an expression of His truth and beauty – so nurturing a passion and love of music and instrumental practice helps students reflect the Creator’s design in their lives. As learners grow in skill, they also develop diligence, discernment, and time management. Most importantly, making music provides joy through a tangible expression of worship to God as well as a growing student’s self-confidence through the discovery and development of their abilities.

We offer tuition across a variety of instruments and have a number of music ensembles at both our campuses where your children can be practically involved in making music with other students.

Together with our classroom music programs, we hope to provide students from Pre-Primary to Year 12 with a musically enriching experience that fosters a lifelong interest and love for music.

We look forward to having you join us in the IMP at Rehoboth. To God be the glory!

About the Program #

Lesson Options and Fees
Lesson Options

IMP lessons are available to students in Pre-Primary to Year 12 at Rehoboth. Lessons are 30 minutes in length.

Students can take individual or group tuition. Group tuition is available for all instruments except drums and oboe and is offered up to a maximum of two students.

Tutors will aim to provide students with lessons consistently throughout the year.

Lesson fees are calculated for the entire year but are added to your school account at the start of each term. Annual fees for IMP lessons are below, subject to Board and AGM approval:

Weekly Lesson Fees
  • Individual: $1,384 (annual total), $346 (debit per term)
  • Group: $816 (annual total), $204 (debit per term)
Fortnightly Lesson Fees
  • Individual lessons only
  • $692 (annual total)
  • $173 (debit per term)

Fees allow for 8 individual/group lessons or 4 fortnightly lessons per term. This permits for lessons due to school activities such as sports carnivals, camps, events, etc. In addition, no lessons take place in the first week of Semester 1. Unless exceptional circumstances exist, credit for missed lessons outside of these reasons are not applicable. For further information, see the notes under Attendance below.

Please note that no reduction is applied for Year 11-12 students in Term 4 as their fees have been calculated for the whole year and take their earlier final dates into account.

Additional Costs

In addition to lesson fees, students will require their own instrument to practice on. Tutors will be able to provide more information on suitable instruments to purchase or hire.

The College has a limited number of certain instruments for hire.

Students may also require music books, which their tutor will communicate to parents wherever these are required.

Enrolment Periods, Timetable and Attendance

Enrolment in IMP is for a full semester. No withdrawals or new enrolments are permitted outside of the start of Term 1 or Term 3.

Students commence instrument tuition at the start of the school year. Students enrolling after this time will commence lessons at the beginning of the following Semester (subject to available places).

Students will be automatically re-enrolled at the end of each year for the following year unless a Request to Withdraw Form has been submitted.

Students are expected to undertake lessons for the whole of the year. This encourages commitment from them and assists tutors in planning their lessons and timetables.

Timetables

Lessons are held during the school day, on the same day each week. Tutors operate on a rotating timetable to ensure that students do not miss the same class each week.

Lessons are available before or after school by agreement with the tutor. Priority will be given to Year 11-12 students in these cases.

Attendance

Students are expected to attend lessons regularly and punctually. Make-up lessons can be arranged for missed lessons if sufficient notice is given. Tutors will provide parents with their contact details at the commencement of lessons. No makeup lessons are offered during term time for absences due to family holidays.

Student Illness
In the event of sudden illness, the tutor must be notified before 8:00am on the day of the lesson. Unfortunately, no credits for missed lessons apply, save for extenuating circumstances.

Tests, Exams, and Excursions
In the event of in-school activities such as texts, exams, or excursions, the tutor must be notified at least two days in advance. Unfortunately, no credits for missed lessons apply.

Extended Absence
In the event of an extended absence, please contact IMP Administrator as soon as possible. No makeup lessons are offered during term time for absences due to family holidays.

Tutor Absences
In the event that a tutor is away, efforts will be made to organise makeup lessons where possible.

A suitable relief tutor will be appointed to ensure continuity of lessons for students if a tutor is to be absent for an extended period of time. On rare occasions this may not be possible – in such cases, a credit of fees will apply (at the IMP Coordinator’s discretion).
Student Progress and Expectations

Student reports are issued at the end of each semester. This is a method for tutors to provide formal feedback on each student’s progress.

Parents should maintain regular contact with their student’s tutors in order to monitor their progress and provide at-home assistance where necessary.

IMP Student Expectations

Pre-Primary to Year 6 students will be collected from their classrooms by their tutor each week.

Year 7-12 students are responsible for remembering to attend lessons on their own.

It is the student’s responsibility to catch up on any classwork missed while attending an IMP lesson.

Discontinuing Lessons and IMP Withdrawal Form

Please note, the following conditions apply when withdrawing your student from IMP lessons.

Requests to withdraw at the end of Semester 1 must be received by the end of the last week of school in Term 2. Requests to withdraw at the end of Semester 2 must be received by the end of the last week of school in Term 4. Outside of these dates, another half-term payment of lessons will be charged to the family’s account before lessons will cease. Withdrawals may not take place until the following term. Special considerations may be granted under extenuating circumstances at the discretion of the IMP Coordinator.

If you wish to withdraw your student, please complete the IMP Withdrawal Form.

At Rehoboth Christian College, we are busy discovering God’s story for us. It is a story about how He has provided a safe, secure environment for Christian families to send their children to be educated; a place where students are taught to think Christianly about the world and their place in it. Rehoboth was also only the second school of its kind in Australia at its opening; a school where Jesus Christ was to be honoured as Lord of all.
